ABOUT

Frenchie Darling is Magandjin (Brisbane)'s award-winning Burlesque & Sideshow Artist and MC, bringing the glamour, the gasps, and the grit since 2016. Her worshippers know her as "The Deadly Sin" — a larger-than-life force that commands every room she enters, every stage she steps onto, and every audience she holds in the palm of her hand.

Before the feathers and the fire, there was ballet, contemporary dance, musical theatre — and, somehow, a chapter in opera. That foundation runs through everything she does. So does her deep love and respect for the histories that shaped it: burlesque, sideshow, kink, and queer culture. Every act is built on a foundation of reverence for what came before.

Classic burlesque is Frenchie's expertise and her reputation — the smoulder, the precision, the art of the tease. But don't let the classics fool you. She is equal parts sultry and ridiculous, in the best possible way — both smouldering and side-splitting, sometimes within the same act. Her performances aren't characters. They're extensions of herself that tell a story or sell a fantasy.

Whether she's peeling off a glove with devastating precision or driving a nail into her skull with the poise of someone accepting a Nobel Prize, every performance is a masterclass in the art of spectacle. The accolades back it up — reigning Mx Burlesque Queensland 2024, national tours on land and at sea alongside Bob Downe, a Woodford Folk Festival debut in the 2025/2026 season, and a permanent cast role in Headliners — a national tour alongside Frankie Ficticious and Banbury Cross in 2025. Large audiences, intimate rooms, special events — she's done it all, and she's done it with moxie.

Her sideshow repertoire is not for the faint-hearted: fire eating, fire breathing, human blockhead, bed of nails, glass walking, balloon swallowing. She has dedicated herself to bringing artistry and reverence back to classic sideshow — an art form that lives on the fringes and has long been dominated by men. Frenchie is proudly staking her claim — one death-defying, envelope-pushing act at a time.

When she's not on stage, Frenchie is shaping the next generation of performers as a private tutor and workshop facilitator to burlesque students across the country.

At the heart of every performance is a deep love for these art forms and the people in the room. Frenchie believes burlesque and sideshow deserve to be celebrated, protected, and passed on — and she brings that conviction to every stage she steps onto. Her goal is simple: leave every audience laughing, gasping, and feeling something they didn't expect to feel when they walked in.

Frenchie Darling isn't just a performer. She's a spectacle, a circus, and a force of nature — all contained within one very glamorous, and very dangerous, woman.
